Take a Breath and Listen to the Bees

Greetings, guys, gals, and non-binary pals.

It’s times like these that we have to sometimes take a breath and listen to nature. We’re focusing on bees for this post because today happens to be World Bee Day.

Even with everything occurring and abundant uncertainty, take a moment to drink some water, take a breath, and perhaps even hum a few bars like the bees do. It won’t create a vaccine, nor feed someone in need, nor even get your shopping done. However, it might just help you relieve the tension and other stresses you’re holding, at least for a time.

I know I’ve not posted much self-help/mental health content here recently, but it’s an apt time to do so. There are numerous posts in the works, both here and on Youtube, including a botany livestream series that goes out every Thursday at 1pm, PST.

Bees are notoriously busy creatures, flying between flowers and pollinating many species world-wide. They are immensely important to their ecosystems and work incredibly hard. They also need rest sometimes. Their buzzing is a communication method, a harmony. The language of the bees is melodious.

Whether you attempt the hum yourself, find clips of bees on Youtube (not mine, but relevent), or just go outside for a few minutes to hear the bees in person, I would urge you to listen for a time. I know buzzing bees genuinely helps to calm my system and that is likely something we could all benefit from right about now. And really, that goes for Rachmaninoff’s Flight of the Bumblebee, too. Completely different energy, but also helps.

If you’d like more of these kinds of posts, let me know in the comments. Admittedly, it’s a lot easier and faster to write these than the in-depth analysis entries.

Take care, all. Till next time.
